The other day our six year old was in the kitchen helping me make bread when she, out of the blue, started a conversation that went something like this…
6 year old: You know Mom, I love all the homemade food you make.
Me: Well, thank you lady - I’m glad you enjoy it (insert big grin from me and visions of abounding legacies)!
6 year old: But it doesn’t make sense Mom…
Me: What doesn’t make send six-year-old?
6 year old: Well, you spend all this time in the kitchen making homemade food for us and it disappears in just five minutes. It doesn’t make sense to spend so much time MAKING food when it just disappears as fast as it’s made.
Hhhmmmmm?!?!?! Good point!!!
The conversation went on a little while with the conclusion being that she is planning to make homemade food for her family [when she grows up] because she knows it’s good for them, but she still thinks “it takes too much time”.
I love when these moments happen!
